Maura Adela Cruz

Born and raised in California's Central Valley, Maura Adela Cruz is a Zapotec poet and scholar. Her work examines industrial farm labor, destabilized landscapes, state-sanctioned erasures and the grief that emerges from the severances of daily transborder Indigenous life. She earned her B.A. with honors in English and a minor in Creative Writing from the University of California, Berkeley. Beginning this fall, Maura will pursue an MFA with a concentration in poetry at Cornell University.
