Caressa Layne
Caressa Layne is an interdisciplinary visual artist, writer, and poet. Raised on a farm in the midwest, she has always been immersed in the natural world. Driven by oral histories, folklore traditions, and animal and plant symbolism, Caressa’s work explores themes of a cyclical nature, woman and girlhood, mourning, and empowerment. She is drawn to the natural world and our place beside it, embracing and celebrating the disturbing alongside the delightful. Caressa currently creates in her studio, reads in her living room, and writes wherever she can, usually with her dog in her lap and two cats on the rug.
